When a miniature viking funeral ship washes up outside a peaceful college town, nobody expects it to carry
a killer puppy.
Not Steve, the pet store owner who finds the puppy. Not his sister Gum (Calico Cooper,) the sexy young
coed who takes the puppy home. And certainly none of the hot babes she lives with, who are too busy showering, jumping on
trampolines, pillow fighting, and getting stoned to recognize the danger in their midst.
Now it's up to a priest,
a rabbi, and a foxy cop to stop the killer before it's too late. Will they solve the mystery in time?
No, they won't.
Prepare yourself for the hilarious bloodbath - terror has never looked this cute!
Chicago, IL (June 1st, 2007) – Gore. Girls. Giggles. Puppy, an indie movie shot in and around San Francisco,
delivers on all three counts. Starring Calico Cooper, daughter of rock 'n' roll legend Alice Cooper, Puppy tells the tale
of a bloodthirsty miniature schnauzer and the nubile coeds who take him in. This irreverent horror-comedy is available on
DVD from www.puppymovie.com, and will be making its Chicago big screen debut with a two-night run, June 22nd and 23rd, at the Leadway Bar
& Gallery, 5233 N Damen Ave, Chicago.
According to Sony Green, Puppy's writer, co-director, and co-producer, "our
creative philosophy could best be described as 'no holes barred.' We refused to let budget constraints, common sense, or the
boundaries of good taste impede our vision of a comedy that shocks, titillates, and bewilders in equal measure." Jennifer
Emsley, co-producer and co-director of Puppy, explains, "Our goal was to pay tongue-in-cheek homage to the horror movies of
the 70s and 80s, but also to deliver something fresh, something that hadn't been done before."
Even by indie film
standards, Puppy was made on the cheap. Says Emsley, "Puppy cost us less than $5,000. From the outset, we decided to play
our low budget for laughs." Green adds, "the money went mostly to effects. When you've got a ten pound puppy mauling a beautiful
young woman in the shower, you just can't skimp on blood."
Accompanying both nights' screenings will be performances
by Song Poem legend Gary Forney. Forney, who starred in the acclaimed 2003 documentary "Off the Charts: The Song Poem Story,"
has received international recognition and radio play. His live performances in Chicago have also earned him spots on the
cable music showcase "Chica-Go-Go." Says Forney, "When [Puppy Gang] asked to use two of my songs, I was thrilled. It's not
every day you get to contribute to a movie about sexy college girls being hunted down by a murderous viking lapdog."
