To try to place the whole witch-hunt in a nutshell... In March of 1993 it was started by a local woman when we wouldn't join her church [ read my autobiography CARAVAN ]. She spread the gossip that we were "in the grip of the deveil" etc. It soon became a major issue throughout La Porte City, which has a population of around 2,000 only. My sons were harrassed. My 4 year old daughter was attacked.  we became victims of full blown hate-crimes. We tried going to the local cops. No help there. The woman who started the gossip is rumored to have had an affair with a local cop, it is unknown as to witch one. The whole hate-crime/terrorist-threats thing made La Porte look bad. They needed to cover it up. So..they boycotted my wife's job for three weeks until she was fired for being "a devil worshipper harrassing the police dept" by asking for protection for our family". When a neighbor threatened to burn my daughter alive should she start school here..she was 4..we were told by a local cop that it "doesn't matter what happens to your little bitch, it's seperation of Church and State". With the police making it public knowledge that they would close their eyes to any and all crimes committed against us, they effectively declared open season on our family. Anything went. We were terrorized in our own yard. A neighbor declared that portions of our property belonged to them. The local police declared it true and granted our property forfeit to the neighbor. The more I protested the more the cops got upset and wanted to shut me up! So..March 5th 1994 I was arrested for "Felony Devil Worship". a totally ridiculas charge. I was further threatened that if I failed to plead quilty to ANY charge that they threw against me..which grew to include "Felony Writing of Poetry" [ the LPC cops banned my recent book of poetry ] that the cops would arrest a member of my family every day until I did plead quilty. They then proceeded to arrest both my sons on charges they harrassed them into. I was also arrested for "felony drug possession" because I looked like I might have drugs. It's funny. All the charges were being used to shut me up. The only charge to ever make it to court was a trumped up "harrassment" charge for a statement well within my rights to make! I was given the maximum fine and threatened by the La Porte City attorney NOT to appeal or the LPC cops would jail my youngest son! Anyway.. the issues were never resolved, just sweep under the rug. The hate- crimes and terrorist threats continued. It is so bad that we have not been allowed in our own back yard for over 15 years. We are unable to maintain the property due to threats. It has become overgrown. The city is now threatening to cut the overgrowth and charge the service to my property tax. I am a disabled senior with no income! I won't be able to pay and will lose my home! That's the long and short of it. A further bit of the whole lunacy is that my citizenship in the State of Iowa was "revoked" by Black Hawk County Iowa in 1994 [ where does a county get the right to revoke state citizenship? ] . In 1997 when I finished paying off my home, I went to the county recorder to have the loan company's name removed from the deed. I was told that I was not allowed to own property in Black Hawk County due to my felony arrests, mostly the drug one, that had NEVER gone to trail. Somehow I had been found quilty without a trail. Interesting, right? What a mess! Today the City will sent workers to maintain my property. They may also send the police! [ to protect the city workers from the devil? ] Then when I cannot afford to pay the extra on my property tax [ even though I am not an Iowa citizen or legal property owner ] I will lose my home!
